Kids in Christian Service is the group of young people between 4 years old and 5th grade that attend West Huntsville Church of Christ. This group focuses on forming friendships with other members, learning Bible lessons, and serving the Lord by serving others. This is a wonderful group of young people and they are a thrill to see together.
KiCS meets once a month, usually on the first Sunday of the month. The group enjoys a meal together (parents are welcome and encouraged to attend). After the meal, there is a period of devotional. The topics of devotionals vary from month to month but are all straight from the word of God. After the devotional, there is often a craft or a special feature to reinforce the topic of the devotional. After the craft, there is usually a game or fun time event.
KiCS tries to have a couple of fun trips each year. We usually do a trip to one of the area parks as one of those trips. The other trip usually rotates between the Birmingham Zoo and Old McDonald's Petting Farm. These trips are open to anyone of the congregation that wants to go with the group.
Some of the KiCS activities recently have included:
West Huntsville has a couple of special events every year that are enjoyed by all but are aimed at the KiCS group. There is the annual spring picnic with the Easter Bunny as a special guest. There is also the October Fellowship with the Candy. The young people (of all ages) make all the effort that is put into these events well worth while.
